Hi, Why does everyone try and demonize negativity? Whenever I talk to any sort of therapist or join any sort of self help website, they constantly preach "staying positive" and "trying to think positively". Why aren't people ever allowed to think negatively? Negativity is a natural emotion that everyone feels. To try and make people stop feeling it and shy away from the fact that their life is miserable is to say that it doesn't even exist in the first place. The human brain cannot function on positivity alone. It has to discover the bad side of the world one way or another, just like how children learn not to touch a hot stove after getting burned by it. Despite what society tries to teach us, the world is not a happy place. People constantly are congratulating people for hiding their emotions. You're called "strong" when you don't cry after losing a loved one, or "brave" when you suffer a traumatic event and you don't show your symptoms. Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
